Sonia Rykiel's runway shows (and a bevy of other sources including Carrie Bradshaw's wedding hair in the Sex and the City movie) make me think that I just might be able to pull off a kooky hair accessory. What do you think?

Sonia Rykiel vs. Bella Sisters

While flipping through pictures of Sonia Rykiel's Fall 2010 RTW show, I came across this gorgeous outfit:

Which immediately reminded me of the Bella Sisters jackets that we carry:

with the little bird
appliques on them.
Am I right or am I right? Which one would you rather rock?

Sonia Rykiel Fall 2010 RW

I sure do love me some Sonia Rykiel! Her designs are forever playful, girly and whimsical, and yet somehow completely chic. Here are some of my favorites from her Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear collection. A mix of menswear, luxurious fabrics and feminine pieces, all put together with quirky styling and ever quirkier tailoring. Plus, some of these pieces, Fall or not, could be perfectly adapted for Spring- and who doesn't want to be able to milk their wardrobe for all it's worth?

What do you think of these limited edition Jeremy Scott heels? The perfect addition to your wardrobe or too Flintstones? I'm not much for heels in general, but I could see these with extra tight black pants and an oversized blouse, no?

Mom Style!

If my eyes do not deceive, the world seems half-full of beautiful, stylish women who just so happen to be mommies. I, for one, do not consider these to be mutually excusive. Being a mother is a lot of work, but it seems that most women don't want to compromise their personal style, and damn if they should have to. So, how to be comfortable (inside and out), mobile, put-together, and not spend a million dollars to do so?
I suggest starting with the basics: well-made, simple layering pieces won't break the bank and are the easiest way to add some color or a print to your every day look. A few stretchy, lightly embellished tops -like this one from Gentle Fawn- are also great because they are as comfy as a plain t-shirt without having to add anything else to make it more special. Some simple, sturdy jeans that fit you well will always be a good investment (this pair is by Makers of True Originals and available here at Moxie.) A skinny or straight leg cut is going to be the most versatile (not just mamas!) Another good investment piece is a pair of flat leather boots. You can tuck your jeans into them, wear them with sundresses and are easily one of the chicest and most comfortable options to run around in. Add a slouchy cardigan and belt the waist (I'm a big fan, if you haven't noticed) to show off your shape.
One of our favorites down at the shop is this vegan diaper bag by Matt & Nat that looks like a big purse. It has a ton of compartments and keeps your look together.

What's your personal style philosophy? Do you think that comfort and style are mutually exclusive?
