Summer Lovin!

Oh, Portland, our honeymoon is over. Two days of summer sun and then back to gray. All weekend I was composing a summer shopping list in my head: my wants and needs for the season. Well, guess what? You're not going to stop me Portland! You have to clear up sometime! Yes, I will get to wear sandals! MUAHAHAHAHA! (The weather is making me lose it, sorry. Ahem.) Anywho, I got to thinking about all of the lovely things I am looking to wear this summer. Here's what I've got:

An oversized striped shirt. Well, oversized shirts in general, but I'm obsessed with stripes. Oversized shirts are more versatile than people think (always with the tight, skimpy shirts!) and very much on trend. A looser shirt lets your skin breathe on those hot days, and looks great under a blazer at night.
Jean cutoff shorts. With the legs rolled up, please. And there's no need to go out and buy some designer pair. Jean shorts look best when they're all worn in, so when your jeans are looking worse for the wear, just turn them into your new favorite summer shorts.
Shirt dresses. Another multitasker, a simple shirt dress can easily take you from day tonight with a few accessories and a shoe change. They also make a great beach cover up!
Sunglasses. I mean, duh. I love aviator style sunglasses, they look effortlessly cool and a bit rock n' roll.
A good hat. I am on the hunt for a straw boater hat or porkpie. With a bit more diligence, it will be mine. But seriously, have you ever tried to put sunscreen on your scalp? Hi, greaseball. Wear a hat, protect your head, look cuter.
A selection of rompers. Yes, I said a selection. My need for rompers is taking over, I tell ya! I have four. Don't be jealous, go get one! They look just as great on a hot day at the farmer's market as they do with tights and heels at night, if you find the right one.
A crossbody bag. Preferably in a neutral color. Keep your hands free to chase the ice cream truck and sip iced coffee instead.
The Basics. Suncreen (I HOPE I don't have to explain this one to you!), a little lip and cheek stain (no one needs or wants a full face of make-up on a hot day), and a fun nail polish color (get ready for sandal weather with a fun, bright color- no need to match it to your outfit!)
Great sandals. Get a fun pair you will love to wear all summer, and make sure they're comfy!
Now do you see why this weather is so disappointing?
